I came to biology by way of an undergraduate in mathematical physics, I believe that ecology is now where physics was two centuries ago.

I'm interested in applying quantitative tools to ecological questions, particularly those associated with where the individual meets ecology. I began as an Assistant Professor in Natural Resource Sciences at McGill University in January 2015.

I earned my PhD in 2014 from the University of Manitoba. My academic journey continued as an NSERC postdoctoral researcher at both the University of Western Ontario and the University of Guelph before joining McGill University in 2015. I was recently honored with the Ned Johnston Young Investigator Award by the American Ornithologists Union. Additionally, I am a board member of the Society of Canadian Ornithologists and serve on the Editorial Board of Marine Ecology Progress Series.

Over the course of my career, I have conducted extensive research on four continents, spanning from the Amazon rainforest to the remote Arctic. My specialization lies in the Canadian Arctic, where I have dedicated the past 15 years to studying birds on 14 different islands within the Canadian Archipelago.

At McGill, my research focuses on a topic of utmost importance:

the sustainability of Arctic communities.

I am deeply invested in studying their access to clean and abundant food resources, as it directly impacts their well-being and resilience in the face of environmental challenges.

With a strong background and expertise in Arctic ecology, I am committed to advancing our understanding of the delicate balance between nature and human communities. Through my research, I aim to contribute to the long-term preservation of the Arctic's unique ecosystem and the well-being of its inhabitants.
